Music is Work

Música Dá Trabalho (Music is Work) is a project launched by Omnichord in 2021 that promotes concerts in schools and accompanies them with an educational process of training on the essential functions and professions in the music sector. These activities are preceded by the delivery of a book to each student with representations of around 22 professions in the field.

A day of ‘A Música dá Trabalho’ at school begins with the arrival of a team of professionals from the field who start by setting up a set of workstations for five previously selected professions: composer, editor, video director, sound technician, and lighting technician. As the classes arrive, one at a time, this team guides the students through the various stations, explaining the process from the moment the composer creates the song to the moment it reaches the stage for the concert. What does it take to get to the stage? This is what the team explains to the students during 45 minutes, giving them the opportunity to try out these professions. After lunch, classes that wish to join in can attend a short concert by an artist, preferably a local one.
